i have done that .. also just incase it was a spyware / mailware / virus that was the problem i also did a clean format and put everything back on .. starting with the video & sound drivers .. then directx .. then the game .. and still the same problem .. my computer will run other games fine

so i have no idea what the problem is ... also just been on ea web site just incase there was an update patch or something like that ... but there isnt
