. The reason the lasers keep burning up is because they need to be set using a multimeter and if you have no experience doing this it can be very hard to get right. If your going to buy a new console The Crystal chip 1.1 is a great choice as well as the above mentioned chips only with new consoles the use of a HD hasent been solved yet.
If it was my console i think i would get in touch with Spedmetal and see what a new laser with install would cost. This way its cheaper and will probably last another year or two. By then i'm sure you will be wanting a PS3 anyway
