Update your IDE and other drivers; perhaps,
remove the custom IDE driver and let the system fall back to the "Standard Dual PCI IDE Controller" driver instead. (See my weird problems at
http://fileforums.com/showthread.php?t=75481 ). Also, take the drive out of your PC and try it on another PC; if it works there, you only have some software problem; if it doesn't, the drive itself might be physically fucked up. Good luck!
