Not everyone is computer savey as most people, so will call a tower a "Hard Drive" when I see people like that I tell them the difference.

Its the same, when at the same its not. If you have one stick, then its not DDR400, you must have 2 sticks in dual channel to have DDR400.
And i forgot to mention the size (doh!), that's the biggest influence on RAM prices :O 512MB cost about half as much as 1GB. and 1GB is obviously alot less than 2GB (more than half as much).
