Laser replacement and adjustment is very tricky and almost impossible to do correctly without a multimeter. It should be done by someone with experience as well.
You may not want to hear this but the smartest thing for you to do is box it up and send it to a pro. If you purchase a new laser and just install it without checking the pots with a MM you can fry the new laser on power up or you may get lucky and it run for a week or two then burn out. Then you will be spent your money and be right back at square one.
Where are you located? there may be someone local that can adjust or replace your laser at a affordable price.
