Thats about the most accurate of all your comments and one I can agree with. Weather or not you "like"
www.ps2hd.com their list is the most accurate and up-to-date and continually being contributed to. USB extreme/advance with out a doubt is very incompatible with PS2 games. HDD seek speed has nothing to do with it. I guess you dont realize that the USB ports on the PS2 are USB 1.1 and not 2.0 like some are mislead into believing. USB1.1 data transfer rates are not as good as data transfer rates from the DVD rom its self, disagree with that if you like but its fact.
If this supposed "new" version ever comes out the only thing they should concentrate on is their poor compatibly with games. Load speeds could be tolerated if compatibility was higher.
