Diablo II & Lord of Destruction

For a Diablo collection DVD, I just first install all cd's, update, replace the executable and burn the whole folder to DVDR. You dont need specific registry settings that are made during official installation; the game will add them again when you run it next time. I have tested this on a clean xp installation.

-Install Diablo 2 from its 3 CD's
-Install LOD expansion
-Update to version 1.10
-Replace the game.exe with one who doesnt
ask for the original Diablo II LOD CD.
(You will however still need the original cdkey
to play online with battle.net)

Optionally you can create a custom installer that copies all files from the
DVD to your hardrive, but the game even totally runs from DVD only not
that fast and you cant safe :P so copying the whole folder over is recommanded. Next to the whole DII & LOD installation on DVD, there is space
left for the Diablo1 files or an ISO and Daemon Tools.

I have also made a dummie file that replaces the D2video.mpq so you dont have to store the bigsize file on your harddrive if you never watch the movies
again. You can modify mpq files with tools provided on the phrozen keep site (http://dynamic6.gamespy.com/~phrozenkeep/)

d2music.mpq contains videofiles as well wich Ive replaced with zero byte videofiles of the bik video format.

If you create a DVD like this, you never have to install Diablo II & LOD again from the CD's but just copy over the whole folder from DVD and you can play again.

Extra: It also works to put this whole folder on a server or just one pc in your local network and when you add a shortcut from the server location to the other pc's, you can easily run the game from one central computer without having to install or copy the game to each client pc.

You may have to alter the Diablo II "Save Path" value in the registry of the server. Run the game once to let DII add these registry values and lookup and alter them afterwards.
