http://www.serje.net/sen . (The last free release is 6.10; the last shareware DOS release is 6.86; 7.x versions are shareware and Windows-only).
Yes, different version means that yours may be the release version and the trainer for an upgrade; or vice versa. Encrypted means that the executable is scrambled: you see "random garbage" instead of disassemblable machine code. Modern copy protections all do this.
