i've looked at the NEO 2.2 chip and it looks good ... it also works with Australian PS2s which is what i've got. so they're relatively easy to install? it says on the site i went to that my purchase comes with online installation instructions ... i have a friend who's an electronics expert, so should he have no probs installing it?
ANSWER: if he can handle 1mm solder tips and wires, he's hopefully OK.
okay ... you recommended booting with DVD Region X ... on the site i went to it says i can play PS2 backup games when i use the chip in conjunction with GameShark2 or Action Replay 2. are you sure i can also use DVD Region X on an AUS PS2? i'm just making sure before i shell out the cash on ordering it over the net
ANSWER: Yes - it's a PAL PS2 and a lot of people use DVD Region X in the UK for this purpose with NEO2.2 (see DAL for details). If you need AR2 for other purposes (like the cheats), then take AR2 instead.
if i can, would you be able to tell me the process by which i boot a backup game using DVD Region X (or any other program like Action Replay or GameShark) with my Neo 2.2 modchip? i've looked at the tutorials and can't seem to get a straight answer.
ANSWER: I'll only answer for DVDRX. Boot with DVDRX (buy the latest version no dongle). When the numbers 1 through 6 appear (allowing you to select a DVD region for, say US DVD Videos), press EJECT and take out the DVDRX disk. Place your backup disk in the tray and press EJECT again to take it in. When it's in, press START on your controller and the game will boot - especially if it was copied with CloneCD on a fully compatible burner.
