For DirectX problems try using the 'XPLite' program to fix it. Now I havent used it personally but I have heard good things about it! You can find a fully working trial version of XPLite
here. You can also read more about it at the same site. Remember I have not used it personally!! But if you have directX problems it may just help you!
Also you say you cannot see the 'Autorun.inf' file on your CD/DVD?
This could be caused by a couple of things!
Firstly try this:
In Windows Explorer, go to the 'Tools' menu, then 'Folder Options', then to the 'View' tab. Now check that the Green dot is in "Show Hidden Files and Folders".
Also whilst in the 'View' box, untick "Hide Extensions for Known File Types".
Then click the 'Apply' button.
Then near the top of the 'View' box, click the "Apply to all Folders" button.
Now you should be able to see the Autorun.inf file!
