Bypassing the protection is illegal. Correct? Again, lets assume you agree.

Since you have bypassed the protection, you have broken the law, because it states you may not bypasss protection. Correct? Its up to you to agree or not.

If the game is giving you an error, then you shoud contact technical support. Correct? I think so.

So, if this game is giving you problems with playing while you have legal software installed, and you are a 100% legal customer, this means that you have a technical difficulty that the publisher should resolve for you.

Now, lets assume that you dont feel like wasting the time and money on your phone bill to contact a publisher on the other side of the globe. You can visit this forum, and ask for guidance.
This guidance will involve bypassing the protection, therefore illegal, as said above. However you get what you payed for, and no one is harmed.

But dont ever mistake your actions as legal. They arent. If they want to sue your ass off, and they have good lawyers, you are screwed.

What I am trying to say is, your method is not legal, but it gets the job done, and it doesnt harm anyone, so no one cares, and there is a next to zero chance you will be sued.

But do not be under the false illusion that it is legal. It isnt.

1.like i said i didn't create the program i just simply compiled it (its also for private use not public thats why i don't give it out very easy)
2. it modifys your registry and that has nothing to do with the game at all since millions of programs write/read/modify the registry its not my fault they have buggy protection that conflicts with a registry entry seems like its their fault the protection doesn't work correctly (how would i know it breaks their protection?) .
3.Blacklisting software thats not illegal in anyway just because the publisher thinks a user "might" copy or play without a cd is infact a violation of a law somewhere, think what would happen if microsoft blacklisted firefox or some other program because it could do windows update or they just assumed it did bad they would get their asses sued (think this already happened in the past).
4. the game doesnt give me any problems what so ever and i am active on the fear forums helping in whatever way i can, I happen to pay alot for my cd /dvd drives and like to keep my hardware in pristen condition and whileat it have less lag caused from spinups and spindowns / other programs accessing my drive this is really the only reason i like to play with no cd (also to keep original in perfect condition) i would assume you are here for the same reason if not why are you here on this forum?

so if you think that modifying the systems registry just "happens" to break their protection checks and would hold up in court your very wrong.

just them blacklisting legit software is a crime itself, I can't wait untill daemon tools becomes commercial ware i wonder if the protection companys would even touch it
