Yup!
Just tried the so called 'proper' crack on my install of ECHO, and while it lets you go into the second cavern, it fails to let you see the torch when you pick one up so you can light another one from it when it gets low, therefore you cannot go any further in the game.
The DEViANCE crack suffered this problem too with the torch!
That leaves only the Original CD or Tetris EMU as the only methods of playing 'properly'!
Guess some people don't know how to test stuff before releasing it
