Hello Folks,
I'm new here so please be gentle
Maybe a little late or already mentioned, but I came across a question on the official starforce-forum, where a guy asked how he could install an SF protected game (X3: reunion) from his usb cd-drive after one of his internal drives broke and he bought an external one..
At first the board mod didn't answer and demanded the reason why someone would want to install from a usb device (duh), while another visitor pointed him to the fact that the guy's internal drive was broken..
After some hesitation the board mod replied with simply: disable the IDE controller in the motherboard BIOS would allow installations from media other than one connected to the IDE controller..
In addition another user had some critisicm how simply SF can be bypassed then to force its way what it wants to do, and commented that this would also allow installations from virtual drives..
the SF board mod hasn't replied since
So my guess is that if you have SATA drives and only a CD/RW connected to one of the IDE controllers, you should be able to run any SF protected game with only a minimod and SFcure, and without the need to disconnect your cables
Cheers, R
