I believe mine will read both VMU slots on all controller ports.
Is your "GameShark" by any chance the "VALUE EDITION"??? That could be the answer. The copy I have is the full-blown Game-Shark.
Has your GameShark always required you use the second controller and the second VMU port?? Did it come with hardware that actually plugs into the second port (did the instructions that came with it tell you to use only port-2)?
