"To mount" means to bind an image file of a disc into a virtual optical disc drive created by a program like alcohol120, daemontools or equal (whereas these two are the most suggested for use with games)
you install the program, it creates a new disc drive on your pc which is software-based, means you can bind any image file to it and it appears to the computer as a "hardware" optical disc drive with disc inserted. some games have protections against such emulation software, but there are other programs (like anti blaxx) that hide the emulation software so that it can be used again for games that have such protection, lets name total overdose for example.
i for my case can say i do not need any special **** to play b&w2 without disc, works by simply mounting it into daemon, no problems although i read somewhere anti blaxx would be needed.
