When you say this machine may not be able to read the dual layer games that are backed up in the + format , are there any - dual layer media available at this time ? I havent noticed any just wondered are they on the way?

The fact that the machine will not boot the original pressed copy of the game , would that not indicate that my PS2 simply can not read any dual layer media wether it be original or backed up? I read some information in this forum under a sticky which gave info about laser and media issues . The following is from that post >>>

DVD9 games conform to Sony's special protection check which is a complex algorithm based on a sequence stored in a data wobble deliberately pressed into the groove at the start of the disk.

This deliberate aberration has to be focussed and read in via the laser and this is where, I believe, the PS2 laser has difficulty at such low reflectivity.

I was just wondering could this be the problem and if i tried a patched backup instead of original disc maybe it would load as that information is left out of the copy? Forgive me if i am mistaken about what info is actually left out of a copied disc , i have not been reading up on this for a while. Im just trying to work out if my PS2 simply will not read dual layer at all. Its a shame if it doesnt read the original dual layer games , because thats what it was suppose to do! lol.
