Programms don't have to support 64bit.
32 bit programs run fine on XP64. No problem there.

The problem is drivers.
32 bit drivers don't work. You need 64 bit drivers.
Because of that, a programm that needs to a speciffic driver will not run unless a 64 bit version of that driver is availible.
Since a Virtual CD-drive requires a driver, D-tools and alcohol need to update their drivers for XP64.

Currently the only 64 bit Virtual CD-drive that I know of is Filedisc, but D-Tools 4 should be realeased soon and will include 64bit drivers.
