Discovered & fixed this issue on my own, hope this may help someone else

After upgrading my Intel D875PBZ, Windows XP SP2 based system to a Raid configuration, attempting to start Nero would restart the PC. Cured problem by swapping Raid driver iaStor.sys ver 3.0 in windows\system32\drivers to ver 3.5 available from Intel website.
