As for the version of your game, well, when you bought it, you asked or you were told which version it is, right? If you don't know, try applying any no-CD patch you can find (backup your game before applying the first no-CD patch and restore it before trying each no-CD patch!) and see if they 1) work fine and 2) don't change the language of your game.
