You totally made me remember something...This paticular unit had a faulty solder join where the fan plugged into the board. half the time the fan didn't work. however it appeared the unit would not operate without the fan working as many times we had to keep turning on and off to get it run. I opened the unit up and resoldered the spot about a month ago and it had been working fine since then. It might be possible that is the cause of the overheating. Thanks for the help. I was really worried it could be the cd-r (as I'm borrowing a friends unit and would hate to burn his up too.)
