@Chunter:
I, personally, wouldn't expect a company that had just made its first car to actually get it working without any problems. I would be thinking about it, and I'd be taking a risk.
I didn't call names at anybody, neither did I assume anyone was 12 years old. I even searched the internet and provided support links for all the people like yourself who have problems with the game. But you can't even say thank you, you just go on to judge me.
This is software, and being a developer myself too, I know that no matter how much you test it and how many rigs you've tested it on, there's always gonna be bugs. Trust me, the first version of my program had quite some bugs, and that was due to my lack of experience. If I got people saying "Hey, your program sucks, it's full of bugs, I'm gonna delete it and then wipe it off my hard disk" I would just give up. But I got "hey, quite some work you put on the program, but i've noticed there are some bugs, here is what I found" and that is what kept me going. Just think of yourself as a developer. What would be better?
Those developers actually tried hard, and although their game has bugs, from their first day they're working on ways to fix them. I know it's ironic that the US patch is released while there is no US release, but I'm being patient.
So, next time you buy a car from a company new to the automobile section, wait for a reliable magazine to test drive it, or ask your friends about it BEFORE buying it, if you're NOT feeling risky.
Translated into software terms, next time you buy a game from a company (see DeepShadows) which has quite little experience in the sector, read some reviews first, browse through some forums, get an opinion from here and there, and THEN buy it.
I actually KNEW about the bugs before buying the game, but a game with such features as Boiling Point, was a risk worth taking. And trust me, with its bugs and its lag, it's still pretty enjoyable, and it's gonna be even more enjoyable in a few days.
That's MY opinion, I'm not flaming or criticizing anybody.
And I'd like to remind everyone of FarCry... How many patches are out up to now? Are there still bugs? How long has it been out? How many compatibility problems were there? Heck, I had a high-end computer for its standards at the time, and the game was hardly playable! I had to search the web, browse through hundreds of topics, to make the game playable.
But, lesson learned, I've been quite cautious since then.
@DabHand:
Thanks for the support. I've just added one more point to yours by mentioning FarCry above.
