A kind and patient person. If I do my math correctly, the average ISO download on 56k, at the optimal 56k speed of 5KBps, it would take you 38 hours.

You can get satellite, it's faster than 56k, but slower than cable/DSL. Satellite, from what I understand, is available worldwide, but the signal may be weaker in some areas than others. The other option is ISDN, which is the very primative form of broadband, it comes in two flavors, single line 64k and dual-line 128k. ISDN from what I've read has existed since the 80s, most telephone companies should support it. The final option is "daisy-chaining" several 56k modems together, it won't work if your ISP does not support it. Never done this before, so don't ask me how to do it.
