this is my very first post here and i hope, i can do a favour to you all.
i just wanted to explain, how to turn the dvd9 version of aow to a working dvd5 version without wasting money for a dl dvd-/+r.
first of all, you need to download
WinPack 2.31 (3.00b works also). extract it to a temp dir and let it remain here. then copy the whole dvd-content of the game into a temp dir too. now start up WinPack and do the following:
- select IS 6.0
- Load packed file and select data1.cab (a little msg appears, confirm with ok)
now you get the whole .cab content showed. scroll down till you get to Group 32. from this point begins the language content. now select the language you donīt prefer (e.g. french, italian, german,...) and click on "delete a group". a dox-cmd-box pops up and should do some work. when the box disappears and the group was deleted, you can proceed with the other "language groups" until you get the size to fit on a dvd5 recordable.
now you can burn the game down on a dvd-/r. and donīt forget the no-dvd !!!
