i have the same problem. It appears to be ea games logo playing and when comes to loading menu (90%) it get duk! duk !duk sound and gets crashes to desktop. I have

AMD 2600
256DDR
ATI Radeon 9200SE 128 mb
Creative 4.1 digital blaster

I did everything like

* Lower sound acceleration
* Installing latest drivers
* direct x 9.0b
* 3 times reintalled

but nothing works. Did you manage to find any solution???
