After researching this problem a bit on other forums, I have concluded the following.

November and December 2000 DC's will not play standard backups. I have heard many rumors about this. One being, that the "boot" area on backups are on the first section of the disk. Sega saw the problem, and corrected it. So, I heard you CAN re-vamp the CDI, and make the boot sector at the end of the disk. While, I think it is quite impossible; people have claimed to do it.

My best bet would be to buy a DC that has a manufacturing date of prior to 10/2000. I have a 6/2000 and it works fine.

But again, different parts of the DC were made in different places. For example: in a post I made earlier; My buddy bought the sonic DC package the same time I bought mine. Mine works great, his doesn't work at all (it pulls up the audio option). My other friend who purchased his DC in early spring LAST year (not sure of date), will NOT work at all.. It simply sits there and loads..

I would recommend finding a DC that was manufactured in June 2000.. I found that to be the most reliable in playing backups.

Good luck.
