You are perhaps a bit too optimistic. See the case of Vampire bloodlines: without the first "unofficial patches" made by leopold and oma, you can't seriously play.
I don't think there is some bad Ubisoft disks, but I'm sure there is a very buggy application used by Ubisoft and the others : the Installer. It took me 3 attempts to install the game -and I'm happy because this time it was not needed to restore my system partition! When the installer mysteriously goes to sleep, and you must reboot, what happens if it was in the middle of a file ?
Even if you are right, I think the pirate does not have intentionnaly made a bad copy of this file. Well, why was this file bad ?
Look at what Ubisoft and the others says to the users which have some problems: uninstall and reinstall the game. They knows that the installer is a lottery - better luck next time, we hope...
