The best P2P program in my opinion is Kazaa. It is the easiest to use, and the downloads are very quick...most mp3s only take about a maximum of 2 minutes with a quick internet connection. When searching for mp3s, Kazaa automatically links together multiple users who have the same file, and when you download a song, it will detect the user with the fastest connection and automatically download from them. If a user cancels a download or the download stops for any reason, Kazaa automatically will find another user who has the same file, and pick up where the downloading left off. In addition, Kazaa offers a similar program identical to their free version called "Kazaa Plus", which offers an identical program to Kazaa, without any advertising. However, Kazaa Plus requires a monthly fee. The free version of Kazaa is still a great program and the best in my opinion. I think you should give it a try.
