The method IS the same as copying a PC game as in creating a disc image and then re-burning using any burning software you like.
The problem is more to do with your actual burner, cuz on a back-up DC disc the first session of a self boot is a 300 sector blank audio track, which gets the second session data to ####t at the correct LBA of 11700 or 117200, fooling the DC into thinking it's an original GD-ROM. But a number of burners have trouble burning 300 sectors as it is such a small amount of data.
Try using DJ V 3.0 for creating your disc images as i know this problem has been fixed with a number of burners...
