You should only need a patch if you are using a Slide card, Swap magic disc, no solder mod, Neo key, or a neo2.2. Most of todays no swap chips get around this protection. You can find patches at

www.ps2ownz.comIf the patch you need isnt there then you will have to look around the net. I dont use these types of mods so i dont look for or use patches.
