If it uses 2 AA Batteries, then you have the v2 version. The v1 uses 4 AA which is why it is somewhat heavy (I've gotten used to it already
). Kind of a shame that the v2 for you messed up already.... it kind of makes me worried how long it really lasts.
I've had my v1 for a bit over a year so far and only now it started to mess up. Eh, I think I'll take my chances and pick up a couple of v2s.
