You don't need to do it through your PC. First, you did an hdd upgrade right? some xbox games don't even fit in the standard hard-drive.
Get a program called dvd2xbox. Burn it to a disk using one of the xbox compatible methods. Then, load it up. It is a file managers and game ripper. You can either just switch disks then copy, or you can use the file manager to copy it to your HDD and use it from there; eliminating disk swapping.
If you still want to network, you will need a network card in your laptop and a crosscable to hook your laptop directly up to your PC. A standard cat5e cable will not do it. You have to go into the network properties. Then scroll down in the window to "ip/tcp options" at the very bottem. Then click the properties tab. Change "obtain an IP automatically" to "use the following ip address". Then edit the options to this:
ip address: 192.168.0.100
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
default gateway: 192.168.0.1
Hit ok and your pc is then set. Then load up evox, and go into settings. change the "use static ip" to yes, then type an ip (ex: 192.168.0.157) and reboot. Next all you have to do is load up an ftp app like flashfxp, type in the xbox's ip, username and pass are both "xbox". it should connect.
