Since I also have Athlon thunderbird 1,33 GHz and I expirienced same problems when I try to start the game ( window opens, black screen, then returns to desktop ), I am almost sure this problem is related to my processor. So, I guess we'll have to wait for the patch, and then cracked patch
So expect to play this game somewhere around christmass
