Thanks guys got some kynar and it sorted it out.
Got it up and working great untill I decided to try something out
Basically when I originally tried to chip the ps2 with the ide cable I must have accidentally splashed a bit of solder on the lazer ribbon right at one of the ends on the contact points.
I got it off best I could but it still didnt look right so I used one out of another ps2.
I obviously then had the problem with having used the ide cable, so after switching to kynar I got it working fine.
Now here's the funny part... I thought while i've got the ps2 open and working I might as well try this lazer ribbon to see if i've damaged it. Put it in, switched on and got a crackling noise for a sec then got a language selection window in
black and white then after ive set that it just says error wrong disk. Same happens when I put the undamaged ribbon in aswell.
Anyone know what ive done? Have I blown the lazer maybe
