The installation was hard to do but not impossible. It took me about 9 hours. I practiced first on an old motherboard and then I tried it. The matix infinity is about the size of a quarter ($.25). Now look at one of the mod installation pics and zoom the picture down untill the infinity is about the size of a quarter. Now you can see how small and compact the ps2 really is. I didn't notice all this until I got the chip from the mail. It also cost more to do it yourself as you need to buy materials like wire and solder and in my case a soldering iron. I spent about $40-$50 just in equipment and materials. Thats not including the chip $65 and the ps2 $150 + the risk of it not working again.
H|LLJD00 or anyone else. If you are afraid of installing it yourself then I suggest you send it to norcalmods. Spedmetal helped me out alot and I can assure you he knows what he is doing. He knows alot more than just soldering a chip. He can give you tecnical background as well as troubleshooting on these chips and he is very reliable as many on these boards have had their ps2's chipped by him. If you decide to chip it yourself, these boards are great and everyone here helps out. If you practice soldering first you shouldn't have a problem.
