Don't bother! When you were installing the game, you should've been warned that, even if you will be able to install the game - according to the documentation, for the purpose of OS upgrade or dual OS boot -, you won't be able to play it.
I couldn't believe it either. I'm a big fan of Windows 98 (having Gold Edition installed, not Second Edition) but it seems it is time to have Windows XP installed; whether installed _also_ or _instead_, I leave it up to you - I chose also...

P.S.: E_J, please, note that the doom3anyos.rar patch allows you to _install_ the game under any Windows, not _play_ it! At least, the documentation says so, haven't actually tried it yet...
