Being legally allowed to backup a disc for whatever reason depends on whether the ability is written into licencing.

But at the end of the day he wasn't done for backing up discs, he was done for selling ways of bypassing the copy protection system. Sony would do anything to protect their and their investers interests. Just the same as any other company would.

Just the same as you would if someone was preventing you from earning income that you would otherwise earn.

Please note that I am in no way against piracy. I have a chipped PS2, when i get a new one i'll get it chipped as well. And i work in a retail store that sells console games & dvd movies.
