Hey man. Hope it works out. Laser cals can be a bitch but best thing is to set several hours aside for it.
Quick guide...
Leave pots where they are....Adjust cogs to lowest position and try an original dvd, then adjust up two clicks and try again ...etc.
When original dvd works continue adjusting until dvd stops working. That give u the range of height settings ( measured in cog clicks!)
So, go back to the first cog click that it worked an put a dvd backup in, now try, if it don't work again adjust the cog up and once again find the range that dvd-r will boot up.
Once range found sit the cog in the dead centre of the range, test the cd's / cdr's and check that they still work ( if not a cog click forward or backwards might be in order), test a dvd movie an check that still boots up and yr set.
So, you've gone through the dvd range and no dvd-r boot up........Adjust the DVD pot by 5% downwards in Ohms and then start the cog height adjustment again.
Warning...If u adjust yr dvd pot resistance by more than 10% of the original value then u risk seriously reducing the lifespan of yr laser....I accept no responsibility for these methods and anything u do on yr ps2 is at yr own risk. This is mearly a suggested method.
