Motoracer 3 is protected with Tages copy-protection. There is a thread at CDFreaks which describes how to make a working backup of the game. However, I have never seen a working crack. From my experience last year or so when I got Motorcer 3, the copy-protection appears to be dependent upon the hardware of the PC on which it is installed. When you install the game, it stores a GUID on the PC which is unique to that PC, and it is somehow used in concert with the original CD-ROM to verify that the game is a legitimate copy. I never spent a whole lot of time trying to defeat the protection so I didn't come up with a working crack. However, this information appears to explain why the No CD-ROM crack for version 1.0 of the game that I have seen only works if the game has been installed from the original CD-ROM. If the GUID is invalid (as it would be if the game were installed from anything but an exact copy), then the game will not run. Tying the protection to the hardware of the PC prevents the game from being copied to another PC once it has been installed. It's a real nasty protection, and I'll never buy another game which uses it if I can't make a working backup.
