There is no IMS file, this is like renaming to .bak it is still the original exe, but renamed to something else so that if something is trying to find the original exe by checking the CRC of ALL the files in the folder it would still find and you would get away with using a fixed exe and STILL have a valid exe in the folder (renamed to ims or bak)
ims is just an extension chosen by iMSDOX, like Norton AntiVirus used to rename your autoexec.bat to autoexec.nav (it's still a .bat file but just renamed .. as a backup copy)
