the Pioneer 107 will not writer at 8x without the firmware update (i've try it on on all the 8x plus disc's with the update it writers x8 on 4x disc's its 50/50 if it works so you will be better writing x4 max) as for software you will find hard to find a dvd writer with software for £100 you better buying the writer as a OEM and buy the software on its own
