a dummy file will arange the data to the front of the disc that way it will load faster and the laser will not have to look as hard to for data, which in turn means that the laser sled assembly will not have to move as frequently therefore reducing the noise which is produced when you have a disc like a small game approx. lets say 150mb all of it will be near the center of teh disc so the dummy file will move it (the actual game data to the outer rim),
the dummy file will occupy the center most portion of the cd and push the real data to the outside,
software is out there and can be found at dccopyworld.com in the utilities section,
you can manually inject a dummy file or you can use autodummy which is dummying for dummies, and does everything for you including the calculation of the appropriate size for the dummy file
