First off you can’t adjust it while it's reading unless you’re Sony. You have to make fine small adjustments then put it back together and see if your adjustments worked. When I'm adjusting lasers I just leave the top of the PS2's case off and the top of the drive unscrewed and when I go to test out my adjustments I place something with some weight to it (like a paper weight or an empty coffee cup….empty being the key word) on top of the drive to simulate it being screwed down. As for what ihaveanosebleed is sawing about being in the middle of its range, you want to go one click at a time until it wont read your disc any more in one direction (mark the cog at the point it stops reading with a pen), then turn around and go the other direction until it stops reading that way also. When you have found its most outer edges of its reading range split the difference and that’s the center. Also you want to have a disc that it full to the brim with data so the beginning of the track is at the outer edge of the disc. You want to do this because that is where the laser will have the hardest time reading data. This is a very time consuming process and there is no magic answer to how it’s done, we aren’t Sony repair men and don’t have their tools so this is how we have to do it. Just take your time.

Oh also is this in a V4??? I thought it was in a V7.... If it’s in a V4 it could just be a fact that the laser is getting worn out. V4 and earlier PS2's have crappy lasers that will wear out more quickly then the V5 and later PS2's.

Good luck
