You should read the stickies first. Anyways, Im thinking it has to do with your gameshark, I remember the pnp chips requiring a certain old version of gameshark that allowed for a second eject.
Does your chip eject twice or just once?

Here is an example of the directions I used [for GS2 v2.0].

So it seems like it should work with what I have. It sounds like it
should allow for that second eject.
