Okay I think you misunderstood me.

802.11b Wireless Network Access Point This is the wireless access point I would buy to make a wired network wireless. I have installed these for a few people and they work flawlessly. And this is what you would plug into your switch.

Wireless Ethernet Bridge - WET11 And this is what I would use to make the XBox wireless.

Any way, one unit is from Belkin the other unit is from Linksys, both work fine together.
And as for your XBox taking updates automatically thats an easy fix. If you don’t have XBox Live you have nothing to worry about. If you do have XBos Live, go into the settings and turn off auto log on.

Than I would also suggest upgrading the BIOS on your chip to X2 4980. This BIOS is very nice. It dose not allow the XBox to connect to XBox Live while the chip is on. Its also nice so that you cant accidentally log into XBox Live while playing a game. Nor can your friends, or even a little brother...

But every thing else via network connections work fine, like FTP, XBConnect, ect ect.
