I don't think thats true at all, networking is networking.
What I'd do is buy a wireless access point and connect that to your switch, than buy wireless adapter and connect that to your switch.
The wireless access point will make your network wireless more or less. I run wireless in my house, and all my stuff in from Belkin, havnt had any problems with it.
