The DUO has not got any "earlier versions" as far as I am aware - the current version is the first and only release under the DUO name.
Evomods has proposed to release the code to all... which is nice of them considering from all accounts it is not theirs to do so...
but who knows who has made what now a days - People keep releasing chips under different names - and I don't really claim to know exactly what is going on behind the scenes... so maybe they bought the rights...
