There is no info on the box, I checked my box. What you can do is go to the store and ask them for the model number - say its because you want to know so that an old mod chip will work on it - theres nothing wrong with that. If they cant give it to you, just wait and ask on the net at a later date. Someone would of bought one and confirmed whether it runs CD-R's or not.
Either way this is probably the last batch of DC's since Sega is quitting on its hardware and going software only - no joke. Their gonna be making games for the PS2 and maybe X-Box and stuff.... Imagine that... if I could see into the furture no-one would beleive me if I told them that.

Anyway... if these new DC's are anti-cdr... I suggest you decide getting an older model number ASAP... you dont wanna be stuck with having to wait for a new mod-chip to come out and no boot-disk will work... or having to buy an older model from E-Bay or a friend or something.
Theres also a chance that these new machines may be fine, or that their not new models at all.
