need more info on what its doing exactly.
i had one that wouldnt read the cd's due to a dirty laser and i used a q-tip with water, pinched off the excess, and was able to clean it, however i found out later that, that could damage it more. it was recommended to use it dry and be exremely careful.
in some cases the warranty may still be valid and you can send it in to be fixed. they also have inexpensive cleaners that you can purchase at stores that are much safer to use.
in any case caution is advised because they are so delicate.
also do not touch with bare hands. i recked one that way also.
