Okay. Looking over the Echelon Tutorial, which was written for people who have 1) the game in its non-self-boot format, and 2) a SCSI CDR drive, I was able to figure out what I thought would be the correct steps to take if a person had only the .CDI file and an IDE CDR drive. Here is what I did with Guilty Gear X:

1) To the original CDI file, I first unpacked & injected it, so it would have the correct audio tracks.
2) I used CDIRip to convert the game into 24 WAV files and one ISO (labelled as track 25).
3) As per the Tutorial, I first burned the 24 WAV files to a cdr with CDRWin, making sure to designate it as multisession.
4) I then burned the ISO file to the same cdr, making sure to use Mode2, CD-ROM-XA, etc., as per the instructions given in the Tutorial.

According to the Tutorial, that was the final step, and everything was all set.

The results: The disc was not-self boot. The disc would not boot after loading the boot disc. The disc was a coaster. My original attempts at burning Guilty Gear X, which involved simple variations on burning the actual CDI file, at least came up with something that would load, even though the music was scrambled and it eventually locked up. This was a complete failure.

Did I skip a step? I don't think so. Maybe you know better. Anyone?
