Its all up to you. Some friends of mine have have Sony's burner and they love it just as I do. I nor any one I know have had any probs. with them at all. I guess if people wouldn't try and hack the firnware they would still be working for them. Now I can't say that about the other dual burner bands out there b/c I havnt had no need to run out and buy one b/c my Sony works great. I wouln't trade it for any other band of burner, even though I'm not a Sony fan (

), I think they did a good job on their burner.
Like I said, it will cost you a little more than a Pioneer. Its all up to you as to what you will be doing with the burner now and what you will be doing with it later on down the road.
